Anne was born on February 3, 1943, in Raleigh, NC, to the late Arthur Brantley Parker and Dorothy McLean Parker. On June 24, 1995, she married the love of her life and best friend, William “Bill” Butz, and together they shared 30 wonderful years.
Anne was a proud graduate of North Carolina State University, where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She loved her Wolfpack and cheered them on with enthusiasm throughout her life. She dedicated her career to serving others as a social worker eventually retiring as Deputy Director of Services for the blind. After retiring, Anne continued to give back to her community by volunteering at the Apex Food Bank. She was also known for quiet and thoughtful gestures—like dropping off donuts to the local firefighters to thank them for always helping her with her car—small acts that reflected her generous and grateful heart.
Family meant everything to Anne. She took immense pride in her children and grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. She found joy in her garden, watching her bird feeders with her children and grandchildren while teaching them about all the different birds, traveling with her husband to discover new barbecue spots, and especially in hearing her grandchildren’s laughter and feeling their tight hugs. Those moments were the treasures of her life.
In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Gower; her brother, Arthur “Chris” Parker; and her cousin, Dianne Moorefield.
She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, William Butz; her son Alan and daughter-in-law Renee Wimbish and their children—Shawn, Samuel, Savannah, and Shelby; her son Zachary and daughter-in-law Crystal Butz; her niece, Susan Gower; and her many beloved close friends who were like family to her.
Anne lived her life with compassion, humility, and a deep desire to help others. When Anne felt called to help others, she did it with all her heart. The family asks in lieu of flowers, to please donate to one of the three organizations that she was passionate about: Autism Society of North Carolina, CEF of Greater Raleigh Area, and the North Carolina State University JC Raulston Arboretum. Keep Anne’s light shining and donate in her honor. Please help her family celebrate her life at Apex Funeral Home Saturday, November 29, 2025. Family will receive friends and guests from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with services to immediately follow.
Anne’s kindness, generosity, and love touched everyone who knew her. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she brightened, the family she adored, and the love she shared so freely.
