Our Mother, Annie Louise Hall, 88, passed into the arms of her beloved Savior Jesus Christ, on Sunday, May 6, 2012. Born in Wake County, North Carolina, on September 2, 1923, she was the daughter of George and Annie Lewter.
A devout Christian, Mother believed that loving Jesus with her whole heart was the one thing that really mattered in this world. A passionate and faithful prayer warrior, she lived for the Lord and displayed a servant’s attitude in teaching Sunday School and putting the needs of others above her own. No matter what plans she had, she would drop everything to help a relative or friend in need, whether it be taking someone to the doctor, picking up a shut-in’s medication, or making a pan full of her famously delicious yeast rolls. Over the years, Mother’s rolls became a ministry which fed bodies as well as souls. Anyone who ever bit into her rolls will testify that only manna from Heaven could taste more satisfying.
Mother was generous with the time and attention she showered on her family and friends. She loved them deeply, and her kind and considerate nature made her easy to love in return. As Mother was “all about family,” one of her greatest joys was to have all her children and grandchildren together to eat with her—especially at holiday times like Thanksgiving and Christmas; and, she took great pride in the scholastic accomplishments and ministry activities that her children, great and grand children were involved. Remarkably, Mother lived independently and even drove right up until the week before her passing. For this blessing, she was thankful—though she longed to see Jesus’ face. Her family cherishes the memory and legacy of their Godly matriarch who lived a life dedicated to the King that she knew and trusted.
Mother is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She has two daughters and their husbands – Glenda and Pete, and Connie and Bob; and one son and wife – Ronnie and Tammy. Rhonda, the first granddaughter, and husband Michael gave Mother her first two great-granddaughters – Brandy and Amber. Jeremiah and Nathanael are her grandsons; and two other granddaughters - Jennifer and Jaclyn. Jaclyn and Kevin recently gave Mother her second great-grandson – Landon. Mother is also survived by siblings James Lewter and wife Lema; and Polly McIver and husband Bobby, and many nieces and nephews.
Mother has numerous family members who preceded her in death and with whom she was reunited this past Sunday: her husband, Roy, of 35years, her first infant great grandson, Brandon, and her mother and father George and Annie Lewter. Also preceded her were several of her siblings and some in-laws: Clara Davis and her husband, Tom; Ruby Spivey, Susie Hatcher Harrison, and the father of her children, Roy…and later Ed, Ernest Lewter and his wife Velma. Mother also met her three infant siblings – two of which were named – Paul and Joseph. Three half-siblings, Sam Lewter, Vada Campbell and her husband George and Vester Lewter and his wife Beatrice. Several infant nieces and nephews also greeted her on that beautiful Sunday afternoon!
Thank you for the love and care that you showed our Mother. We will miss her—but rejoice that we will see her again one day because of the blessed hope that Jesus gives.
Glenda & Pete Meinema, Connie & Bob Smith, Ronnie and Tammy Hall
