OBITUARY

Anthony Gaeta

September 11, 1938 – February 1, 2024
Obituary of Anthony Gaeta
IN THE CARE OF

Apex Funeral Home

In loving memory of Anthony Carmen Gaeta, 85, who passed peacefully on February 1, 2024, a week following the departure of his beloved wife, Gisela. Tony is survived by his three children, Patricia Gaeta, Jaqueline Benson, and Daniel Gaeta, and their spouses David Foberg, Joshua Benson, and Kristine Gaeta. He is also remembered by his loving grandchildren, Elena Benson and Bryan Benson.

He was a proud Bronx native and graduate of St. Bonaventure University, where he joined the ROTC and was an avid basketball fan. After graduation, he served in the Army as a 1st Lt. stationed in Germany. There he met the love of his life, Gisela, on a blind date in Stuttgart. Their Christmas Eve wedding marked the beginning of a 60-year marriage that led them to New Jersey, where they started and raised their family.

Tony's many days at the Swim and Sports Club in Flanders, New Jersey were filled with tennis matches and memorable moments with friends and family sharing delicious food and drink.

After a successful career in advertising, Tony enjoyed an early retirement in the Treyburn community of Durham, North Carolina. He and Gisela built new friendships based on their love of cuisine, entertaining, and golf. This chapter also brought trips back north for Arthur Avenue care packages and worldwide travels to China, Australia, and Argentina.

His legacy lives on through the warmth and connections he shared with family and friends.
