Barbara was raised in Mooresboro, NC and her two favorite things as a child were riding her pony and sitting by her father’s side in his art studio while he painted. Her father would give her a copy of the Saturday Evening Post and ask her to copy the cover. Years later, Barbara’s childhood paintings were discovered in her dad’s studio with the Post’s cover attached to the back of the framed paintings. It was years in which she developed her artistic talents which she enjoyed her entire life. She graduated from Crest High School in Boiling Springs, NC and UNC Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secretarial Administration. After working for NC State for years she decided it was more important to become a full time homemaker so that she could spend more time with her two sons. She then turned her artistic talents to the miniature doll house hobby, producing scale porcelain dolls and pull toys. Her dolls were sought coast to coast and her toys were particularly popular in Europe, especially Switzerland and England. One of her proudest moments was when she was commissioned by Spelman College to produce doll likenesses of Sasha and Malia Obama which were presented to Michelle Obama when she visited the collge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Willard Logan and Charles Patterson Logan; and brother, Michael Logan.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 48 years, Charles Nelson Cooper; sons, Justin Cooper of Apex; and Jason Cooper of Morrisville; mother-in-law, Edna Cooper of Lattimore, NC; sisters, Christina Logan Wilson of Gibsonville, NC; Carolyn Logan Wall and husband, Charles Ray of Mooresboro, NC; and Katherine Logan Daniel-Shoaf of Hillsville, VA; brothers, Charles Logan, Jr. and wife, Sarah of Henderson, NV; and Marcus (Nick) Logan and wife Shirley of Whiteville, NC.
