Betty was born August 14, 1929 in Duncan, NC to the late William Henderson Austin and Ruth Dennis Austin. She was employed with Apex High School retiring with over 25 years of service. Betty was an active member of Salem Baptist Church of Apex.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William Haywood Burnette.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Karen Gaster and husband, John; brother, James Austin and wife, Joy; sister, Oma Howell; brother-in-law, Claiborn Burnette and wife, Sylvia; and grandchildren, Rev. Brandon Gaster and wife, Susanna, and Allison Gaster; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful for the loving care provided by Spring Arbor of Apex, in her final years.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2pm Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Salem Baptist Church, 1821 North Salem Street, Apex, NC 27523. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
