Betty Seeger Gupton

September 11, 1929August 28, 2019

Betty Seeger Gupton, 89 of Cary, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2019 in Raleigh, NC.

Betty was born September 11, 1929 to the late Everett and Ruth Seeger in Olean, New York. Her early years were spent in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania. Her family later moved to Cary, NC where she graduated from Cary High School in 1947. In 1950, she completed her training to become a Registered Nurse at Park View Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC. A year later, Betty and Bill were married, and their daughter Melinda was born in 1962 while they lived in Nashville, NC. Betty was a beautiful seamstress, a wonderful cook, and was especially known for her delicious desserts. She was very involved in many activities at her church, always willing to serve others in times of celebration or times of need. After retirement, she enjoyed extensive travel with Bill by her side. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. But perhaps her proudest role was that of a devoted Nana to her two grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Everett Seeger, Jr.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Gupton of their home in Cary they shared for over 50 years; her daughter, Melinda Murphy of the home in Cary; two brothers, Frederick N. Seeger of Cary, and David C. Seeger of Castle Hayne; and two granddaughters, Rebecca C. Murphy of Washington, DC and Kristen L. Murphy of Raleigh.

Please join the family for a celebration of Betty’s life at 1pm Saturday, August 31 in the Fellowship Hall of Ephesus Baptist Church, Raleigh, NC. Visitation will follow. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation in Betty’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

I have been so blessed to of had the opportunity knowing such a lovely lady.
When I lost my Mum, Dear Betty (Through Melinda) came along. She said she never drank alcohol, wrong, she did when she had my Fish & Chips (British Style) my batter is always made with Guiness. After a while, she would hold "Centre Stage"!!!
Now in Gods keeping with no more suffering. Thank you my most dearest lady thank you.
