Having lived in Los Angeles, CA for ten years, Bonnie relocated to Cooperstown, NY in 1986 with her daughter where she remained for nearly 25 years. While her daughter was in school, Bonnie devoted her days to raising her while contributing to the family shade tree business, Clarke Tree Co., Inc. until 1997 when she became a Staffing Assistant at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown. Bonnie worked at Bassett in several departments before becoming the Nursing Unit Clerk of the Birthing Center where she found true joy in her work and colleagues.
On January 15, 2009 she was given the greatest birthday gift with the birth of her beloved grandson. The following year she relocated to Cary, NC with her mother in order to be closer to her daughter’s family. The move brought her immeasurable joy in that she was able to witness the growth of her grandson daily. Grady and his “Goomi” were head over heels for one another and to witness them together warmed the hearts of everyone around them. Her favorite part of every day was listening to him squeal her name as he ran head-long into her legs for a hug and kiss.
Bonnie was a kind-hearted, generous spirit that touched the lives of many people. She and her daughter shared an intensely special bond that blurred the lines of motherhood with those of friendship and kindred spirit-hood. Her warmth and genuine interest in others was something her friends and family will never forget.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Candice Brown and her husband, Jeremiah of Holly Springs, NC; grandson, Gradyn Brown; mother, Joyce Clarke of Holly Springs, NC; brother, Barry Clarke and his wife, Jodie of New Port Richey, FL; and nephew, James Clarke.
She is predeceased by her father, Barrett Clarke and niece, Tami Clarke.
