Brooklyn Mae Carroll, age 10, of Apex, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 2, 2025, as the result of a tragic boating accident. Her sudden loss has devastated her family and community, who are left heartbroken by the absence of her bright spirit.
Born on June 3, 2015, Brooklyn was a shining light in the lives of everyone who knew her. Her gentle nature, kind heart, adventurous soul, and infectious laugh brought joy and comfort to all she touched.
A rising 5th grade student at West Lake Elementary School in Apex, Brooklyn dreamed of becoming a teacher. She was endlessly curious and full of compassion, with a deep love for animals, nature, and the people around her. Known for her silly sense of humor and enormous heart, Brooklyn lit up every space she entered. She especially loved riding horses, playing with her pets, and creating joyful chaos in the outdoors.
Brooklyn is survived by her loving parents, Kimberly Cannon and Matthew Carroll, and her sister Ava Cannon, all of Apex, North Carolina.
She is also cherished by a large extended family:

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” — Matthew 19:14
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” — Matthew 6:33–34
