Carrie Jo Burrell Whitley

Always a force to be reckoned with, Carrie was born in Sylva, NC on July 15, 1933. She grew up there with her siblings until moving to Charlotte, where she met her husband Joseph Whitley Sr. They shared many decades of life together and lived locally in Apex since 1979. Her husband sadly preceded her in death in 2004.

Carrie filled her life with friends, travel, bridge clubs and time with her family. She and her friends met for bridge a few times a month and traveled around the country together. She loved going to the movies and did so often.

Carrie is survived by her brother, Conrad Burrell (and wife Juanita) of Sylva; her children, Patricia Gress (and husband Bruce) of Apex, Judy Price (and husband Dwayne) of Riner, VA, and Joseph Whitley Jr. of Kure Beach. In addition, she is survived by her granddaughter, Megan Madlon (and husband Andrew) of Durham, as well as step-grandsons, Michael Price of VA and Darren Price of NY.

Carrie had a zest for life that left her unforgettable to all that knew her. She will be missed dearly by all those in her life.
