Cloy was born in Louisiana to the late George and Myrtle Ann Wells.
Cloy is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Shirley (Penton) Wells; son Rocky and (sp) Larna, son Robin and (sp) Othella, son David and (sp) Marguerite, and daughter Alaina and (sp) Jorge; eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
A humble and gentle man throughout his life, Cloy was known for his service to God, the church, his family, his community, and his Country. Shortly after marrying Shirley in 1952 Cloy entered military service in the United States Air Force where he served honorably for four years, including one year in South Korea during the hostilities of the time. While in Korea he began his legacy of service to others by spending every free moment he could providing help, comfort, and personal attention to war orphans in several institutions near his unit location. This legacy continued as he continued to provide his time, talent, and resources wherever he felt needed, be it in various churches and missions across many States, serving in Lions Clubs where he lived, and providing a role model second to none to his family and acquaintances.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Salem Baptist Church 1821 N. Salem St. Apex, NC 27523. Interment will take place immediately following in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
