Cynthia Lee Kostishak, 62, of Holly Springs, NC, formerly of Anderson, IN and Dallas, TX, died Friday, May 22, 2020.

Cynthia was born March 2, 1958 in Anderson, Indiana. She has a zest for life, was sharp and quick witted, and had a deep passion for rescuing animals and gardening. Throughout her life she would never hesitate to stop to feed or rescue an animal she thought needed her help. One of the fondest memories of her will always be of her giving food and water to wild chickens while on vacation in Grand Cayman island in 2019. She either adopted or found wonderful homes for many of the cats and dogs she found. In many cases, animals just came to her because of her good nature and delightful demeanor.

She never met a stranger and would talk to people whether in the grocery store, airport, mall or on vacation. The joy and laughter she spread is a constant reminder of what a good soul she was and that deep down her heart was always in the right place. She will be missed by all she touched.

Cynthia is survived by her husband of 33 years, Tom Kostishak; father, Marvin Lee; mother, Betty Jean Lee; brother, Kevin Lee and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends 6-8pm Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502.

I am so sad to hear of your loss. Her humor and wit will be missed terribly. I enjoyed her company so much. I want everyone to know that she helped me in so many ways. I'll never forget the Christmas she filled my car with cat and dog treats, food and litter. She was more than a favorite customer of mine...she was a friend.

Cindy and I were friends for as long as I can remember. We were always at each other’s house, or riding our tricycles around the neighborhood. We were mistaken for sisters more than once even when we were high school age and older. I will miss her more than I could ever say. The best friend I ever had or will ever have. My deepest condolences to Tom, Betty, Marvin, Kevin and family. Much love, Patti.
