Daniel Wellington Boone Sr.

Dan had many jobs over his lifetime but his favorite was being a church pastor and preaching God’s word. He graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with an Associate of Divinity in 1989. He pastored four churches in North Carolina and preached in South Africa on two mission trips where many were saved.

Dan loved God, his family, and friends. He surrounded himself with photos of his favorite people: his family. He always marveled at God’s wonderful creation–especially snow, sometimes staying up all night to watch the quiet beauty of snowflakes falling. He had a soft spot for animals and loved to watch documentaries about nature and history, as well as a good old Western film. His favorite book was the Bible and he could quote many scriptures by heart.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nellie Boone.

He is survived by his wife, Debby Boone of Apex, NC; brother Frank Boone (Kathy) of Raleigh, NC; his children Daniel Boone Jr. (Katie) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Jennifer Longworth (Ty) of Cramerton, NC; and two grandchildren, Teddy and Leona.

The family extends deep gratitude to his nurse, Holly, and his CNA, Tiffany from Heartland Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum at 1 o’clock on Monday, November 17, 2025 with Rev. Kevin O’Brien officiating. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park at 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC.
