

He served as a naval officer during World War II and the Korean War. He was a York Rite Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Fayetteville, NC. His professional career was with Merck & Company. He retired as an Executive Professional Sales Representative.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis Early Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Julia Sanders Miller; his son, Dr. Daniel Walter Miller, Jr. and his wife, Janet Sutton Miller of Murrells Inlet, SC; daughters, Dr. Sylvia Miller Morral and her husband, Rear Admiral Dennis Gilbert Morral, U.S. Navy Retired of Portsmouth, RI; Nanette Miller Flood, RPh, and her husband, Commodore Paul Edward Flood, U.S. Navy of Jacksonville, Fl. Grandchildren: Dr. Daniel Walter Miller, III; Martha Miller McCain; Megan Miller Reese; Dennis Gilbert Morral, Jr.; Phyllis Early Morral; Paul Edward Flood, Jr.; Laura Caroline Flood; and 6 great grandchildren.
Extended family include Mark Fletcher Sanders and wife, Cyndy Huters Sanders of Holly Springs, NC; Kimberley Elaine Sanders and husband, Dr. Paul C. Browne of North Augusta, SC; Amy Sanders Dring and husband, Thomas James Dring of Holly Springs, NC. Grandchildren: John Fletcher Sanders; Abby Elizabeth Sanders; Rachel Sanders Browne; Ryan Fletcher Sanders; Greyson Thomas Dring; Meredith Jennings Dring; and Jackson Tyler Dring.
He is also survived by his brother Wayne Joseph Miller, Jr. and his wife Betty Lou of Lenoir, NC and his sister Bettie Miller Purdom of Decatur, Ga.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 18, 7:00 to 9:00 PM, Apex Funeral Home, 550 West Williams St, Apex, NC. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 19, 2:00 PM, Laurel Springs Baptist Church, 11922 North Carolina Highway 18 South, Laurel Springs, NC 28644.
