Born on January 17, 1939, Dan lived a wide-ranging and vibrant life. He proudly served in the Air Force from 1960 to 1964 as an Intelligence Specialist, rising to the rank of Sergeant E4. His military service took him abroad, where he spent a memorable portion of his enlistment stationed in Germany. Following this, Dan attended Ohio State University, where he earned a degree in Agriculture.
Dan’s professional experience included time spent in the meatpacking industry, in shot peening, and even spent time selling A-frame houses in the scenic mountains of Colorado. However, his truest joy and highest calling were found in his missionary service. Alongside his beloved wife, Jan, Dan served as a missionary with Frontiers. Together, they spent eight wonderful years living and serving in England, a period Dan always remembered as the happiest time of his life. Their service continued on their relocated to North Carolina, when Dan finally retired at age 72.
Above all, Dan loved Jesus. His greatest desire was to instill that same lasting faith in his children, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and spiritual guidance.
He is survived by his adult children: Kim Pomeroy, Chris Carney, Laurie Line, Ben Clark, Laurie Hooten, Steve Dean, and Lisa Shaeffer, as well as a large community of extended family and friends who will miss his warmth and caring spirit.
