Doris Taylor Trasatto

Doris Taylor Trasatto, age 74 of Cary, NC and formerly of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026 at Transitions Lifecare. She was born in Chester, PA and was raised in Wilmington and Claymont DE. Doris was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Taylor. She graduated from Brandywine High School in 1969.

Doris is survived by her husband of 41 years, Steven, and her children Kenneth Hanby (Kandace) of Rehoboth Beach, DE and James Trasatto of Durham, NC, and many nieces and nephews. Doris was especially close to her niece Beth Bruette, Beth’s son Finn and cousins Nancy Tweedy and Peggy Self. She was preceded in death by her brothers John and Robert Taylor Jr, and sister Denise Ferdinand.

As for her working life, her longest tenure was at Spitz Space Systems (now Cosm Companies) where she held multiple positions in data processing and culminating with the Inventory and Production Control Manager position. She also held positions at Hewlett-Packard, American Express Centurion Bank, Hercules, DHL, Delmarva Power and Light, and American Greetings.

Doris left full-time work to raise her son James but remained active in PTAs from elementary through high school. She also served her community on the Recreation Committee of the Devereaux HOA and spent about 15 years as Recognition Chairperson and other roles for the community swim team, her beloved Devereaux Devil Rays. She also enjoyed spending time with her many friends and neighbors, especially playing Bunco.

Family will receive friends and guests from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with light refreshments on Thursday August 6, 2026 at the Apex Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6:00 PM. A celebration of life and inurnment will be held in Wilmington, DE at a future date.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions can be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association or Transitions Lifecare Hospice.
