Dorothy Pugh Benton
April 13, 1927 – January 5, 2019
Dorothy Pugh Benton was born on April 13, 1927 in Laurel Springs to the late Robert Lee and Cornelia Edwards Pugh; she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert Louis Benton. She is survived by her two daughters Patricia (Steve) Bennett in Rich Square and Peggy Lineberger in Hartsville, SC: four grandchildren: Brooke (Robert) Edwards, Jeb Bennett, Brittany (Brian) Knapko, and Matthew (Megan) Lineberger; three great-grandchildren: Samantha Knapko, Emery Lineberger, and Nora Edwards.
Services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex with visitation beginning at 12:00PM and funeral service at 1:30PM. Burial will follow at Apex Cemetery.
Dorothy attended Womans College in Greensboro and worked for 30 years in the public school system primarily in Wake County. She was an elementary school teacher for 15 years and a librarian at Vandora Springs Elementary School in Garner, NC for the last 15 years.
She enjoyed bowling, dancing, reading, and traveling. She loved her family very much especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
