On a bright September morning in 1925, Amos Wilson and Esther Michael welcomed the birth of their charming daughter, Edna Louise. She grew up as a fine young woman residing in Grange Hill, Westmoreland, Jamaica. Thereafter she met Harold Williams and they joined in holy matrimony. From that union, eight children were born: Howard, Winston, Wilbert, Logan, Trevor, Audley, Glendon, and Patrick. While living in Jamaica she industriously engaged in hair dressing, sewing, and managing a neighborhood variety store.
She relocated to Queens, New York to further her career in Health Care in 1968. Shortly thereafter she started the process to relocate her family, including her elderly mother to the United States. After a number of years, she moved to Orlando, Florida to eventually retire there. Her family frequently enjoyed their vacations there and time spent with grandma. Edna now accompanied by her mother, moved to North Carolina to be closer to her children and grandchildren in 1994.
Edna is known for going the extra mile in order to help others. For many years, she extended herself in caring for her elderly mother Esther who subsequently died in 1998. Having become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 20, 2002, she diligently maintained her Godly qualities and expanded her work in the ministry as she shared her love for God with others. She was affectionately known as the “Candy Lady” by children, who found her to be kind, generous, and approachable. We will always remember her encouraging words, “Keep On Keeping On.” She enjoyed music and singing.
Edna departed this life on Sunday, August 27, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Williams and five sons (Howard, Winston, Audley, Glendon and Patrick). She is survived by her three children Wilbert (Denise) Williams, Logan (Michelle) Williams, and Trevor (Robin) Williams, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great great grandchild, cousins, other relatives, her Christian family and friends.
