Betty was born January 2, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late William and Doris Phillips. She was a graduate of Saint Michael’s Catholic High School in Baltimore, Maryland and worked as an administrative assistant at Westinghouse in Linthicum, Maryland, where she met the love of her life, Stan. Betty had many hobbies and talents, including sewing, gardening, pottery, and above all, painting. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and her little dog Quint.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Stanley Dawson Haas.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister Elizabeth Sykes (Berry), her brother Robert Phillips (Lucille) and brother William Phillips (Cathy), her daughter, Karen Duffy (Jim); son, Tom Haas (Wendy); grandchildren, Jimmy, Greg (Kiersten), Scott (Vanessa), Alli (Gareth), Ethan, Gus, Liam, Anja, Zane and Piper; four great grandchildren, Kaylee, Valerie, Cole and Charlie. Betty had many wonderful friends, especially her new friends from her community of Ellington Place and her Artist friends from the Cary Senior Center at Bond Park.
A special thank you to Toni, Leslie, Rebecca, Chris and Heather, who all took the time to make Betty’s final days meaningful and special.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 o’clock a.m., Monday, August 30, 2021 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 100 W. Lochmere Drive, Cary, NC 27518. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
