Frances Tharp Bennett

Frances Tharp Bennett, 77, passed away Friday morning, October 17, 2014. Born on April 11, 1937 in Darlington, SC; she was the daughter of the late John Hulon Tharp and Josephine Covington Tharp.

Frances retired as a much loved and dedicated elementary school teacher, teaching 2nd-5th grade at AV Baucom Elementary School for 31 years. She had a passion for painting and art and loved teaching square dancing, double-dutch jump rope and was an AVID Tar Heels fan, especially their football and basketball teams.

She is survived by her daughter: Bekki Bennet, of Apex; and two brothers: John Tharp and wife Brenda, of the Villages in FL and Lewis Tharp and wife Peggy, of Virginia Beach.

Family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8 pm at Apex Funeral Home, with Funeral Services to be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 3 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Apex Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Frances was ne of the best painters I know, she never thought anything was as good as I did! She was a super painter partner at our seminars and I always looked forward to helping her find her keys! I will miss her and always remember her fondly. My prayers are with you Bekki, I know you lost your biggest fan and best friend.
