Frank was born on September 17, 1941 in Asheville, NC to the late Samuel Claytor and Eula Lyon Jordan. After graduating from Grimsley High School in Greensboro, NC, Frank went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His career in accounting started at JP Stevens in Greensboro, NC where he met his beloved wife, Brenda. Over the next 20 years, he worked with Fieldcrest in Eden, NC and later moved to Kannapolis, NC to work with Fieldcrest Cannon.
In his early years, he enjoyed running and completed two marathons. As a lover of the outdoors, Frank enjoyed backpacking trips along the Appalachian Trail with his buddy Dan Roberts and camping in the NC mountains with his family. As he aged, his love of cooking grew from making pot roast to creating the perfect loaf of ciabatta. During his time as a deacon at Westwood Baptist Church, he cared for his flock with visits that included delivery of his fresh baked bread. When a dessert was called for, he would bake his specialties that included blueberry cobblers, pound cakes, and cheesecakes. His granddaughter will always remember his mile high apple pie at Thanksgiving. An avid reader, he enjoyed fiction and non-fiction works on theology, cooking, and history.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by Frank Vaughn and Fannie Mae Vaughn, his grandfather and grandmother and his uncle and aunt Joseph G. and May V. Sergeant.
He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Brenda Jordan; daughter Jennifer Vaughn Jordan; daughter Paige Jordan Luck and son-in-law Nathan Luck, and granddaughter Isabel Jordan Luck.
Family will receive friends and guests on Monday, July 10, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Westwood Baptist Church, Cary, NC. Immediately following the visitation, a memorial service will be held in honor of Frank at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at michaeljfox.org or mailed to PO Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Mrs. Sheila Huntsinger for her care and kindness in Frank’s later years. Frank enjoyed every political discussion you had, sitting on the porch listening to bluegrass, and looking at family pictures together. A special thanks to Tammy Hayes with Arosa Care, who’s never ending support will always be remembered.
Fond memories and expressions of condolences can be shared online at apexfuneral.net for the Jordan family.
