I just learned of Dr. Gray's passing. I am deeply saddened about this news as he was my all-time favorite Professor, friend, and mentor during my time at the University of Cincinnati. He will be sorely missed in this world. He was truly a genius. Eric Anderson

Randy and I got to know Gary and Cheri (while visiting Arlene Long).  Both Gary and Cheri always had smiles on their faces and a kind word.  We will miss them at BellaRose.

There was something endearing and special about Gary for his neighbors that also called Cove Creek Drive “home”.  For Gary and myself, we talked often of our other home, WV!!  Now, Gary is celebrating his arrival to his final home of Heaven where he now basks in the glory of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ—someday, I will share that “address” with him, too!!   Until then, you will be missed by many!!  

I fondly remember two years of car pooling with Gary, Ty Cobb, David Huffman and myself. Gary refused to stop to let people out of the car and I spent my high school life dodging the back hinged car door on his old Mercury. Sorry to lose you Gary.

Losing this friend and brother of Sigma Alpha Epsilon is difficult to hear. Gary will always be remembered for his lively personality, big smile and booming laugh even when a joke was not understood by all of us. Especially recall the wild bridge games in Shawkey Student Union at Marshall. My sincere condolences to all of his family.

Thank you for 11 years of laughs, advice, and a constant smile on your face. Thank you for all those chats after work, the free psychology: (Yes, that is how I really feel) and the fact that you played your own outro music when a joked bombed. Thank you for all the driveway wine nights in the fall and the willingness to help anytime with my projects. Thank you for always looking out for the street/neighborhood and for mowing Dean’s yard and not mine when we were both out of town. (you have to admit you did buzz it a bit) Thank you for your upbeat attitude and your positive perspective on life. Thank you for being a listener when I needed it, and always supportive and understanding.
Most of all, thank you for marrying Cheri and for the two of you becoming part of our family. Our lives are better because of it.
I miss you my friend. 


Cheri-  We always loved seeing you and Gary at The Memory Cafe of Cary.   You were regular guests for us and we always loved seeing you there.   I will remember the smiles Gary shared with us during the dinners and entertainment.   We know this is a difficult time for you and your family and I want you to know that YOU are still welcome to attend The Memory Cafe of Cary...you have lots of friends there and all the Rotarians love you. Gary is my cousin and a treasure to the family. One of Gary’s great lines as a PhD of Psychology was “And how does that make you feel?”. A running laugh in the family. Especially when our daughter received her degree in Psychology. 

His sense of humor, that booming laugh and absolute love for Cheri will always be remembered. We are so glad he is with our Heavenly Father and whole again. 

From his smile thru his laughter he made you feel like a friend. From Jr. High through Marshall I always enjoyed being with him.  A great guy !!!

I work with Cheri and only know Gary from the many stories she has shared over the last couple of years.  It’s obvious that Gary’s moral compass was solid and his travels were Heavenly bound.  My entire family has been deeply touched and positively impacted by the devout love Cheri and Gary share.  We are forever changed because of just that alone.  I expect that Gary’s clear sense of hope, joy and love will continue to embrace Cheri, Gary's family and countless others for many years to come.  

Our heartfelt condolences to Cheri and all the Gray family during this time of reflection which is sure to involve much story telling.

It was a life-long friendship that started in our West Huntington neighborhood,  only grew through Huntington High experiences and so was a big part of my decision to pledge SAE at Marshall.    He was there for me when I returned to Huntington from active duty in the Air Force in 1971. We picked up just like I had never been away.

I enjoyed his insights, his humor and his intellect. 

He was a "True Gentleman" and I send my prayers for his family and comforting thoughts for his friends.  A life well-lived...

R.I.P. old friend



Gary was a really great guy, good friend, and fraternity brother. You could not be around him very long before noticing his smile and laughter. I fondly remember his positive personality which impacted everyone he was around. 

We had the pleasure of meeting Gary in 2009 when I began working with his lovely wife Cheri.  Gary always had such a larger than life personality with an infectious laugh and smile.  Larry and I were blessed to enjoy Duke football with he and Cheri (Gary was a huge Coach Cutcliffe fan).  The laughs were never ending!  What we treasured most about Gary was his passion for life, his love for Cheri and his love for the Lord.  It was undeniable!!  I’ve never seen a stronger love between two people.  I know the first thing Gary did upon his arrival to heaven was to thank God for his beautiful bride.

You will be missed Gary Gray but never forgotten.


One of the truly neat guys I met early on in my time at Marshall.  Gary always had a great smile and kind word anytime you ever saw him.  He truly exemplified THE TRUE GENTLEMAN from our Sigma Alpha Epsilon days.  Enjoyed staying in touch with Gary after he went on for further education at Toledo.  

Fair and following winds to you, my friend, and continued prayers for Cheri and your family.

Gary was the best brother-in-law that we could've asked for.  He treated our whole family as his own.  His sense of humor was unbeatable.  I never heard a cross word come out of his mouth.
Cheri and Gary's relationship was truly a marriage made in heaven. They cherished each other.
I'm sure that Gary has already joined His heavenly choir as he loved to sing our Lord's praises. 
We'll surely miss you, big guy, but know that you're watching over all of us.  God bless you.













Gary made a lasting impression on me the first time I ever spoke to him in 2007!  I had recently hired Cheri and called her house to get some information.  Gary answered the phone and when I introduced myself, he proceeded to tell me what a smart decision I had made and how lucky I was to have Cheri on my team!  He was so full of excitement and energy,  and he was genuinely thrilled to share her with me.  He was her biggest cheerleader and his love for her was as huge as his personality.  

Since that call, I have witnessed 11 years of unconditional love between them.  It has been a beautiful inspiration.
