Gerard retired from American Airlines in 1995 after 30 years of service, and has since worked at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex.
Gerard is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary, son Tommy and his wife Jess, daughter Kelly and her boyfriend Colby Jones, and granddaughter Isabelle. Also survived by sisters Janet Dixon and Patricia Kossmann. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert.
A viewing will be held at the Apex Funeral Home on Sunday December 29 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 30 at 11am at St. Andrew's.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Wake County or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
