

Gloria Hodge Neal, 89, died Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Universal Health Care in Fuquay-Varina, following a lengthy illness. She was born to Ernest and Rosana Hodge of New York City on February 26, 1926.
She was preceded in death by her sister Lohania Webb-Allick, and her son, Paul Neal. She is survived by two sons, Wayne (Marcia) Neal, Drake (Gwenn) Neal and one daughter, Ivy-Lynn (Thomas) Jackson , six grandchildren, Troy (Josepha) Neal, Terrence Neal, Dee (Larry) George, CeeJay Johnson, Jackee-Lynn Jackson and Kameron Neal, nieces Taryn Melendez and Luetica (David) Grant and two great-grandchildren as well as her dearest longtime best friend, Vilma Callender.
Gloria graduated from Jane Addams High School in Bronx NY in 1944 then met and married Morris Neal in 1945 and had four children. She was a practical nurse and was employed at Lincoln Hospital in NY City where she worked for many years. She moved her family to St. Thomas US Virgin Islands in 1966 and continued her Practical Nursing career. She later moved back to the mainland and lived in Cincinnati OH, East Hartford CT, and more recently moved to Cary/Apex to be closer to her family.
Gloria fulfilled her passion for traveling by visiting West Africa, Israel and Alaska as well as numerous Caribbean islands. She loved the LORD, people watching, current events, socializing, reading and board games.
We find piece in knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior. She will remain in the hearts of all those who have crossed her path, especially her children, grandchildren and nieces. Her presence will continue to walk with each of us.
A memorial service will be held on December 3, 2015 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W Williams Street, Apex NC 27502 at 11am.
