Mr. Keefe was born on November 26, 1933 to Michael Joseph and Josephine Irene (McDaniel) Keefe in Eugene OR. After graduation from the University of Oregon and obtaining his CPA from the University of Illinois, he spent his career with Arthur Andersen & Co., in numerous locations throughout South America, Europe and Chicago and was Managing Partner of the Lisbon, Portugal office. After retiring he served as a professional consultant to the World Bank and the United Nations and partner with KPMG – Peat Marwick.
He was a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Florida Institute of CPAs, Rotary Club of Crabtree, Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of Confederate Veterans and a lifetime member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. In the early 1980s, he was elected President of the Interamerican Accounting Association and served on the Board of Directors for many years as representative of the American Institute of CPAs.
Among his civic and professional activities, he was chairman of the Ethics Committee of the Illinois Society of CPAs and treasurer of numerous charitable and civic groups.
In addition to business travel, he and his wife toured most parts of the world reaching a total number of countries and territories visited of 117, including the sites of six of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
He was also a renowned sesquipedalian.
He is survived by his wife Angelica (nee Moreno), three children (Carolyn Dowdy, Michael and John) and eight grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 12:00 PM at St Michael Catholic Church, Cary, NC.
