James Albert Bailey, 90, of Apex, died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Bailey was born on August 27, 1920 in Wake County to James Thomas Bailey and Alice Upchurch Bailey. He worked for the railroad for over 40 years. Mr. Bailey also owned and operated B&S Hardware in Apex as well as Bailey’s Florist for 27 years. Mr. Bailey was a member of Apex Baptist Church. His love for fishing, camping and his family was evident to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Bryant Clark Bailey; daughters: Doris Bailey Schompert (Cliff) and Jane Bailey Pearson (Jim); grandchildren: Jeni McAllister (Kris), Michael Schompert (Karen), Lisa Singleton (Kevin), David Pearson (Krystal); great granddaughters: Maddie and Sara McAllister, and Kaitlyn Singleton.
Mr. Bailey is preceded in death by his sister, Annie Doris Bailey and an infant grandson Schompert.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Apex Baptist Church, 100 S. Salem St., Apex. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM conducted by Rev. Phil Qualls. Burial will follow in the Apex Cemetery.
