James (Jimmy) Wade Russell passed away Sunday, October 27th, 2019 of complications from cancer. Jimmy was born in Wake County to Wade and Omie Russell as their first son. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Omie Russell and his brother, Paul G. Russell. Mr. Russell is survived by wife, Rebecca and son, Mark Russell.
A funeral service will be held at one o’clock Friday, November 1st at Good Hope Baptist Church, 6636 Good Hope Church Road, Cary, NC 27519. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 30th between 7pm and 9pm at Apex Funeral Home. Burial will be in Good Hope Baptist Cemetery.
Jimmy met his illness with amazing strength and bravery. With his upbeat, positive, matter of fact attitude. He worked full time as accountant for ERA Pacesetters Realty until September 1st, always in his office everyday by 7am! His amazing strength and energy was still there even at 83 years old. His upbeat, positive cheerful presence will be sorely missed!
Jimmy left this world a happier and better place than when he entered it. He always had a kind word for everyone he met, and he lived with the belief that, if you don’t have anything positive to say about anyone, don’t say anything. Jimmy was a sweet, kind, and Christian man with a big heart! Jimmy loved his fur babies Lady, Buddy, and King and all the ones before them! He always made sure his outside bird feeders were replenished.
Jimmy loved Tar Heel Basketball, but rooted for all the local teams, except when they played Carolina.
Jimmy was quite the jetsetter - traveling all over the United States and Europe!
He embraced and loved technology. He loved the surfing internet and Facebook!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Cancer Research Institute, Good Hope Baptist Church, SPCA or American Cancer Association.
