Jane was born and raised in Glen Cove, NY, the daughter of Scottish immigrants Daniel and Jane (Millar) McAlpine. She met the love of her life, John Morrison, at a friend’s wedding. They shared 52 wonderful years of marriage before John's passing in 2010.
Together, they raised four children in Farmingdale, NY, before moving in 1990 to Whispering Pines, NC, where they enjoyed retirement and life on the golf course. In 2019, Jane moved to the Apex/Holly Springs area, where she found a welcoming community and pursued her many passions—church, bridge, mahjong, bingo, knitting, and more.
Jane is lovingly remembered by her children: Steven Morrison (Phyllis), Wayne Morrison (Lynne), and twin daughters Karen Keren and Kim Morrison. To her seven grandchildren—Amanda Morrison (Mike), Jason Morrison (Justine), Sarah Morrison, Scott Morrison (Jill), Megan Morrison, Laura Holmes (Josh), and Daniel Keren—she was affectionately known as "Nana" and will be deeply missed. Her six great-grandchildren—Nola, Cora, Antonio, twins Maeve and Devin, and Hallie—knew her as "Gigi" and will carry her love in their hearts.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Southern Magnolia Living in Holly Springs for their compassionate care during Jane’s final months.
A Celebration of Life drop-in gathering will be held on Sunday, October 12, from 2–5 p.m. at Karen’s home: 102 Hardaway Ct, Cary. All are welcome to join in honoring Jane’s life.
In lieu of flowers, Jane requested that donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness at nami.org.
