Janice "Jan" Trepanier Kerrigan, age 89, passed away peacefully in Cary, North Carolina, surrounded by her family on October 9, 2025.

Jan was born in Marquette, Michigan, the daughter of the late Joseph Trepanier and Rosella Trepanier. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald Kerrigan, and by her sons, Patrick (Mary) Kerrigan and Dennis (Nancy) Kerrigan.

Jan is survived by her children, Brian (Lisa) Kerrigan, Kevin Kerrigan, and Susan Smith (Andrew); her grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Hannah Kerrigan, Lauren and Connor Smith, and Klair and Bryant Kerrigan (Serra); her great-grandson, Bryson Kerrigan; and her siblings, Gene (Denise) Trepanier and Judy (the late Robert) Waller.

Jan grew up in Iron Mountain, Michigan, and later moved to Lake Forest, Illinois, where she met her husband, Donald. Together, they raised their five children in Lake Bluff. In 2011, Jan and Don relocated to Holly Springs, North Carolina.

Jan was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she and Donald were married. A dedicated public servant, she spent much of her career working for the City of Lake Forest. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, exercising, traveling, cooking, and volunteering.

Jan was known for her kind spirit, generous heart, and lifelong dedication to helping others. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, great-grandmother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend whose kindness and strength continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
