Jean was born to Exum and Ella Hare in Holly Springs. She was preceded by her husband Kent in 2014, after nearly 60 years of marriage. The youngest of four daughters, her sisters, Mary Macon, Belle Durant, and Martha Sexton also preceded her.
She is survived by her children, son Al Goodwin (Sandra), daughters Teresa Hardy (Jim), and Olive Cambron; grandchildren: Jason Goodwin (Kate), Bob Goodwin (Jenni), Megan Clark (Thomas), and Sean Cambron; great-grandchildren: Henry, Charles, George, Serena, Nathan, and Caswell. The extended family is vast, and the spread of this family tree too broad for individual listing, but special to the home. Friendships were many and all dear to her heart.
Jean was a caregiver throughout her life. First, as a young farm wife with three children, later with her parents and her in-laws. She was also ready, willing and able to help whenever her grandchildren needed her.
Church was an important part of Jean’s life. She was always active in the churches the family has attended, as well as the community she lived in. She lived her life with a Christ-centered heart.
During the off-season of farming, Jean took various temporary jobs to supplement the family income. She discovered furniture refinishing which led to operating an antique store, Treewood Antiques. Reading, gardening, sewing, cooking, and giving back to others were things that she enjoyed most.
A private family graveside service was held at Apex Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for all to make a donation in Jean's honor to the Baptist Children's Home of NC, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27360.
