

Jean Travers, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on August 11, 2026, in Raleigh, North Carolina. A loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and treasured friend, Jean was a talented artist and avid world traveler. Jean filled her life and her home with vibrant color, beloved family and cherished lifelong friends.
Jean lived the first sixty years of her life in New England where she met Louis, the love of her life, on the dance floor. Jean and Louis married and had an epic love story, completely devoted to each other and loved and danced as they raised their family and traveled the world together for over seventy years.
Jean was a talented artist expressing her view of the world through her beautiful watercolor floral and landscape paintings she shared with family and friends. A true creator of community, Jean volunteered throughout her life through her church, children’s schools and charity organizations sharing her time and talents. Jean was a lifelong learner playing bridge, tennis and golf together with Louis. Jean loved to gather family and friends spending days or more preparing memorable get-togethers filled with laughter, connection and her delicious food that nourished the soul.
Jean is survived by Louis Travers, her love and devoted husband of 68 years and by her two daughters; three grandchildren; brother, and godchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jean lived a life of compassion, beauty and connection enriching the lives of so many and will be forever loved and cherished by all whose lives she touched.
The family will hold a service for Jean, Friday, August 28th, 10:45am at Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3008 Old Raleigh Rd, Apex, NC.
