To know Jerry was to know love. While he was a man of few words, his love and care shined through consistent actions that spoke louder than anything said. Jerry greatly enjoyed working with his hands, often taking time to build additions to the home he and his wife raised their two sons in. Blessed with a green thumb, Jerry could often be found tending to their garden. The family grew a variety of vegetables, enjoyed sharing the overflow with neighbors, and cooking together. He had a knack for somehow producing very spicy peppers according to his sons. Jerry had a love for cars, taking time to fix up old cars and teach his sons the ins and outs of automotive care. He prided himself on his career as a carpenter, working at Triangle Trim and eventually moving to Builders First Source (BFS). He was one of the first recipients of the BFS’s Hall of Fame award for his hard work and dedication. He started at BFS as a Service Technician and worked hard to move on to being a Project Manager. Jerry was a man of God and lived his life in service to others. He was fiercely loyal and protective of his people, always going out of his way to make sure everyone else was taken care of first before himself. In high school, Jerry met his wife Kim. They navigated teenage years and young adult life together and married in September of 1996. Two years later they were blessed with their first son, Joshua, and then six years later their second son, Trevor. Their family enjoyed yearly beach trips, watching NASCAR or drag car races, and having extended family gatherings around the holidays. Jerry cultivated a house and a life full of love, warmth, peace, and joy.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Johnson.
