

Jerry Alan Ricker, 71, passed away on January 22, 2015 at Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Apex, NC. Born in Marshall, NC; he was the son of the late Daisy Lee Ramsey and Albert Matthew Ricker. He served honorably in the US Navy.
Jerry graduated from Marshall High School, Mars Hill College and the University of Tennessee. He retired as a computer programmer with Ecusta Corporation after 30 years of employment. He was an avid trap shooter, spending many a day at the shooting ranges in Fletcher and Bostic. He was also a member of the North Carolina Trapshooting Hall of Fame.
He is survived by three daughters and their families: Maria and Mark Medley and child Jacob, of Georgetown, KY; Kimberly and Drew Hembree and their children Abigail, Emily and Drew Jerry, of Olympia, WA; and Karen and Scott Trott and their children Matthew and Jonathan, of Chapel Hill, NC; brothers: Bill and Judy Ricker; and John Kenneth and Tereasa Ricker; and other family and friends.
Private Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends on Friday evening at Groce Funeral Home – Lake Julian (72 Long Shoals Road – Arden, NC) from 6:00-8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fisher House, an organization providing no cost housing for military families receiving medical care, at www.fisherhouse.org.
