Joanne Redmond Sciascia

Joanne was born July 2, 1958 in Manhattan, NY. She was a 1976 graduate of John Jay High School and was employed in accounting during the 1980's with Urbach, Kahn and Werlin in Poughkeepsie, NY and later with Ronder and Legg in Kingston, NY. In 1993 she moved with her family to Cary, NC and began working with Walmart Garden Center where she worked for over 16 years. Joanne was very involved with genealogical research and spent numerous hours researching her family’s history. She was proud of her Irish heritage and in 2013 she fulfilled her lifelong dream of visiting Ireland for over 10 days.

Joanne was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister and will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was a faithful member of Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex, NC.

Joanne was preceded in death by her father, John Redmond.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Pete Sciascia; mother, Rosemary Barker Redmond of Hopewell Junction, NY; daughters, Shannon Frye (Mike Santiago) of Poughkeepsie, NY; Stephanie Sciascia of Raleigh, NC; and Nicole Sciascia of Cary, NC; grandson, Cesar Hernandez-Frye of Richmondville, NY; brothers, Gregory Redmond (Celeste) of Clifton Park, NY; John Redmond of Hopewell Junction, NY; and Gerard Redmond (Bernadette) of Poughkeepsie, NY; sisters, Sheila McVicker (Gerard) of Stormville, NY; Deidre Berardelli (Mike) of East Rockaway, LI; Rosemary Williams (Ronnie) of Hopewell Junction, NY; and Jennifer Duffy (Dan) of Wappingers Falls, NY; and very close dear friends, David and Jill Gantt of Austin, TX; and Bill and Diana Martinez of Cary, NC.

A Funeral Mass will be held 1pm Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3008 Old Raleigh Road, Apex, NC 27502. Interment will follow the service at Wake Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-9pm, with a prayer service beginning at 8pm, Friday, May 1, 2015 at Apex Funeral Home Chapel, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502.
