John "Jack" Edward Orum

Jack was born February 1st, 1953 in Pittsburgh, PA to John Orum and Margaret Mager Huwe. He loved the Lord, his family, and his country. Jack appreciated the beauty of God’s creation in the mountains and loved spending time there. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard for 5 years. Jack was owner and operator of Design Aire, an HVAC company. He was hardworking, trustworthy, and dependable and continually leveraged his company to serve the community and his church. He loved learning and had many interests, but he gained the most joy from teaching others. Jack taught HVAC classes at Wake Tech for several years and served as Head of Department for a portion of that time. He was truly a “jack of all trades” and a master of most.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Orum.

Jack is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathy Council Orum; father, John Howard Orum and wife, Dee; mother Margaret Mager Huwe; daughters, Georgeanna Wiest and husband, Chris, Abby Harvey and husband, Bryan, and Emma Emery and husband, Bobby; brothers, Jim Orum, and Larry Orum and wife, Ming Chu; sisters, Ruth Cardilli, Mary Rackley and husband, Jason, Kathy Karstaedt and husband, Pete, Beth Pierce and husband, Greg; nine grandchildren and another on the way.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, September 3rd, 2021 at Apex Funeral Home Chapel, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
