He was drafted into the Army and served 2 years stationed in Germany. He spent over 25 years working for the New York City Fire Department and retired as a Captain.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine, parents John and Elsie and his beloved grand pups Cleopatra and Pindar. He is survived by his children: Billy (Linda); Kim (Rob); Rob (Debbie) and Scot (Pepper) and grandchildren: Luke, Jake and Isabella.
He enjoyed Michigan football games with his grandsons, a shared passion for Jersey Mike subs with Isabella and receiving public safety updates from the “big city”. Funny family stories that will endure forever are: him “falling through the ceiling” (still not sure if it was the contractor or the attic stair weight limit); repeated attempts to “talk to a person” while fighting with an automated voice on the phone; and blaring firefighter videos during his son in-law Rob’s online interview. We know he is back with mom and receiving the “direction” that he has been missing.
The family would like to thank Jamie for her caregiving the past few years of his life.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Cary, NC on Tuesday, November 18th at 11am.
Interment to follow at Saint Michael the Archangel Church Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his honor to the New York Firefighters Burn Center: https://www.nyffburncenter.com/donate.aspx
