Jon C. Hall passed away peacefully on September 6, 2013 surrounded by family. He was born in 1942 in Des Moines, Iowa to Dr. Charles and Lucille Hall of Zearing, Iowa. Jon was a witty raconteur and beloved husband, father, and brother. He was an industrial psychologist who was a self-employed entrepreneur, developing numerous psychometric tests for team-building and personal development.
In 1959 he attended University of Iowa and graduated from Upper Iowa University with a degree in business. He went on to obtain a masters degree and subsequent post-graduate course work in psychology at the University of California Fresno. He met his wife, Kathleen Caulfield, while at Upper Iowa University and married in 1966. Their first child Elizabeth was born in 1972 after they moved back to Iowa. Their second child Mary-Patricia was born in 1976. After their youngest daughter graduated from college, Jon and Kathleen moved to Cary, North Carolina.
Jon was a livelong Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan, having lived his whole life never having seen the Cubs win a world series. But he always believed there would be next year.
Jon and his wife Kathleen enjoyed many adventures across the US and internationally, going to Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, England, and France. One of the more beloved family vacations was when they rented a boat to sail down the Gulf coast of Florida.
Jon is survived by his brothers Dr. James Hall of Colleyville, Texas and Joseph Hall of the Philippines; his wife Kathleen Hall of Cary, North Carolina; and his two daughters Elizabeth DeRuntz of Carterville, Illinois and Mary-Patricia Hall-Harrison of London, England.
In lieu of flowers, the Hall family asks that people give a Memorial Donation to Chicago Cubs Charities at (773) 404-CUBS.
