Joe was born in Franklin County, North Carolina on June 1, 1931 to the late Hurley and Lucy Evans.
Joe was an avid fisherman and NC State sports fan.
Joe was a window framer for Carolina Builders retiring after more than 30 years of service.
Joe was preceded in death by his father Hurley Evans, his mother Lucy Evans and his grandson, Ethon Abercrombie.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ida and his children Nancy Gooch (Steve), Mark Evans, Thomas Evans (Melissa) and Bobby Evans; his brother Woodrow "Woody" Evans (Ann) and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2019 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. Apex, NC 27502 or other times at their home.
