Joe was born on October 23, 1950 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late Joseph Anthony and Doris Gertrude Saintomas. Joe grew up in LaGrange, NY, along with his brother Tommy, and graduated from Arlington High School in 1968.
Joe then began his long and successful career with IBM, lasting through a spin-off to Toshiba until his eventual retirement in 2016. Joe was extremely dedicated to his job and cared deeply about his people, which brought out the best in them. He was much loved by his peers and the many teams he led over the years.
In 1966, Joe met Donna DuBois, his forever soulmate. They married on August 12, 1973 and have been together ever since. Together they enjoyed traveling up and down the East coast, to the Caribbean Islands, and were lucky to be able to join the St. Michaels Choir on a trip to the Vatican.
Joe and Donna enjoyed kayaking, motorcycles, building a home together, and above all, playing music. Joe was an avid guitarist and following retirement they began performing as an acoustic duo, Time for Us, playing at nursing homes, farmers markets, and open mics among others.
Joe loved his family, especially his "kids" Kristin and Michael (the source of his worry, pride and joy), who enjoyed sharing jokes and weekly Sunday dinners together. In addition to Kris and Mike, Joe adopted a four-legged son Oliver "The Bear", probably his favorite child (wink).
Joe is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Doris, his beloved aunt and uncle Vincent and Louise Porter and cousin Debra Eichler and sister-in-law, Doreen DuBois. Joe is survived by his wife of 49+ years Donna, daughter Kristin Renee, son Michael Jared, brother Thomas, cousin Pam Porter Fitzgerald (Kevin), Lifelong friend William Klump (Norma), Sisters-in-law Denise St. Andrew (Dennis), and Debra Depolito (Angelo), and nephews JohnPaul and Ryan DuBois, and Mathew and David Vegeto.
Memorials in Joe's name may be made to the SPCA of Wake County or The Arc. Both charities were close to Joe's heart because of his beautiful dog and beloved brother.
A memorial service for Joseph will be held Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W Williams St, Apex, NC 27502, followed by a reception from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
