On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, our beloved Kathy Sue went home to the Lord. Kathy was born on February 1, 1967, in Delaware County, Pennsylvania to John Addison Hagy Sr. and Nancy Jane (Hensel) Hagy. The last of their three children, she grew up on the family farm caring for their many animals. Kathy had a particular love of dogs, saying later in life, “I wish I could save all of the dogs in shelters.” She served as a dog foster mom and saved her last two dogs, Indiana and Winter from rescues.
Kathy was talented in the Arts. As a child, she played the piano and loved to dance, excelling in ballet, pointe and tap. Later, with her tall stature, beautiful long blonde hair and blue eyes, she graced the runway as a fashion model.
Her true passion, however, was for children. Kathy became a remarkable Elementary School Educator, teaching for over thirty years. She taught in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Florida before settling in Apex, NC, lastly teaching Third Grade at Resurrection Lutheran School in Cary.
A unique and outstanding teacher, Kathy always made learning fun for her students. Whether it was making paper mâché globes, stuffing scarecrows, baking to teach math or a “states and capitals conga line,” down the hallway, Mrs. Siemon always found a joyful way to help her students succeed. Many told her that they were inspired to become teachers because of her, including her own niece, Krista.
Kathy was outgoing, fun-loving, gregarious and a loyal friend. Always kind and welcoming, she made her home a place of happiness and joy for all who visited. Even if you were just “stopping over,” she would whip up some cupcakes or throw cookies in the oven just to welcome you.
As an avid Disney fan, Kathy knew all there was to know about Disney World and visited frequently with her family. She was “game” for any wild ride and made every visit memorable. Her boundless energy and infectious laugh will be sorely missed.
Above all, Kathy loved her family fiercely. Her husband, Howard (“Skip”) and son, Addison (“AJ”) were the lights of her life, followed by her nieces Amanda and Krista and their children, whom she served as a “second grandmother.” The endless and amazing love that she shared with her family will never be matched.
Kathy is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of thirty-three years, Howard (“Skip”) Siemon; son, Addison (“AJ”) Siemon; brother, John Hagy, Jr.; sister, Jill Johnson (Jon); niece, Amanda Weschler (Steven) and their children, Raleigh and Nora; niece, Krista Smith (Edward) and their children, Edward Jon (“EJ”) and Emery and many numerous sisters and brothers in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family will receive friends and guests on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 6pm-8pm at Apex Funeral Home. A Christian funeral service will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Cary, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 11am.
In lieu of customary remembrances, please contribute donations to the animal rescue/shelter of your choice, so that Kathy’s wish to “save all of the dogs,” may live on.
Fond memories and expression of sympathy can be shared below, within “Add a Memory” for the Siemon family.
To all who were lucky enough to know Kathy, remember that in the moments where you find yourself laughing a bit louder, saying “yes” to the “wild ride,” opening your door a little wider or simply making someone feel special, it is in you, that her legacy lives on.
