Linda was born on February 14, 1955 in Newark, New Jersey to Columbus and Virginia (Ginny) DeJohn. She was predeceased by her husband, Byron Best, and brothers Thomas and Robert DeJohn. Linda is survived by her brother, James DeJohn, and her daughters, Tina Sanchez, wife of Eric Sanchez, Dana Geris, wife of Nicholas Geris, Amanda Best-Morin, wife of Paul Morin, and niece, Jeneane Morris, wife of Conor Morris, whom she loved as a daughter as well as many other nieces and nephews. “Mimi,” as Linda was known to her grandchildren, is also survived by her adored grandchildren: Peter Geris, Ryan Geris, Christian Sanchez, Vincent Varano, Dominic Varano, Sophia Varano, Grace Sanchez, Emily Wolter, Gary Wolter, Zach Wolter, and great-nephews Xavier Morris and Gavin Morris whom she loved as her grandchildren. Linda also was blessed with a wealth of family and friends, but none more beloved than her besties, Wendy Clark and Betty Swartzel. She also leaves behind her beloved Maltipoo, Teddy River, who brought her so much joy.
Nobody just liked Linda, to know her was to love her.
She was as loving and kind as anybody as God put on the Earth. If a person was sick, Linda was there for them – related or not. With her “Lindaisms” she was quick to evoke laughter from all and even mustered laughs at the end of her life. Linda’s laughter was contagious, but she was also one who could become serious. Linda was a lady of conviction with a deep sense of how things should be done, and, often, it was best to follow her advice. Linda was one to set the example, she lived practiced how she preached – all who knew her are better for it. There is a Linda-sized hole in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her. Linda Best was one-of-a-kind and will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
There will be a memorial service at the Apex Funeral Home, 550 W Williams St, Apex, NC 27502, at 2 PM with a visitation to follow until 5 PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that you do something kind for someone or just make someone laugh – just as Linda did and would do for anyone.
