She was born on October 18, 1940, in Durham, North Carolina, where she was raised and spent most of her life.
Linda graduated from Durham High School and went on to build a long and dedicated career as a secretary with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, where she worked for more than 30 years.
Linda had a deep love for the beach and later moved there to spend cherished time with her mother and sister. She also loved to dance—especially shagging. She loved animals and would often find joy and comfort loving on her grand puppies and kitties.
Family and friends were at the heart of Linda’s life. She was kind, loving, and always smiling, with a warm and welcoming spirit and contagious laugh that made everyone feel at home. She was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She treasured special moments, like making cookies at midnight with her grandchildren, and even enjoyed keeping up with the times by making TikToks.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Emory Jones Holt; her mother, Georgia Fields Tilley; and her father, Wayland Harris Tilley.
Linda is survived by her son, Brian Holt and his wife, Jennifer, of Cary, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Zachary and Tristin Holt; her brother, Eddie Tilley of Floyd, Virginia; and her sister, Beth Jones of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham, North Carolina, on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the graveside service
