Louise “Lucy” Harward Wilkerson, 93, of the Bells Community died February 12, 2011. She was born August 24, 1917 in Chatham County to Louis Jefferson and Elizabeth Mason Harward. Lucy graduated from Rex Hospital School of Nursing in 1940 and later from Duke as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a CRNA retiring in 1984 from Rex Hospital after 42 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Lucy is survived by two sisters, Edna Lewter of Apex and Allene Harmon and husband Obie of Pittsboro; seven nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews and other loving family.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 11:00 am at Bells Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
