Chip was born on August 10, 1979 in Winston-Salem, NC to Dasheila Kim Schwerk Williams and M.E. [“Bud”] Williams, Jr. Chip graduated from Athens Drive High School in Raleigh in 1997 and obtained a Business Administration degree from Belmont Abbey College in 2001. Chip was very active with the youth of the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh providing self-defense seminars and event security for Convention, SEARCH, and Back to Earth programs. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex, NC.
Chip was employed by Leith Mercedes-Benz of Cary in Wholesale Parts and also volunteered as a Range Safety Officer at Drake’s Landing.
Chip had a sense of adventure that included skydiving, flying aircraft, riding fast sport bikes, driving powerful cars and traveling. He liked his toys ranging from remote control cars, trucks and planes to stunt kits and the Boring Company’s Flamethrower. Chip was a member of the Cary Broncos Pop Warner Football team that was invited to the 1989 Pop Warner Super Bowl in California. North Topsail Beach is where he found happiness in the ocean and the sand. His smile could light up a room and he had a personality larger than life. There was no question that he enjoyed cars – he owned over 40 in his lifetime. He spent his free time restoring and driving any car he could get his hands on. Every June and December, he looked forward to supporting the Raleigh Classic Car Auctions at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. In 2016, Chip was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and was passionate about fundraising to help find a cure even forming and leading his MS Raleigh Walk Team, Chip’s Champs.
Chip was preceded in death by his uncle, John Walter Williams, of Marietta, Georgia.
Chip is survived by his wife, Adrienne Williams; Mother, Kim Williams, and father, Bud Williams, of Cary; Sister, Danielle Kandice Williams Peterson, and her husband, Carl Andrew Peterson, and nieces, Abigail Nicole Peterson and Lauren Alexis Peterson, of Waxhaw, NC; Aunt, Deborah Helen Buie Earp, and her husband, Johnny R. Earp, Jr., of Sanford, NC; Cousins, April Lynette Williams Nicholson of Carrollton, GA, Laura Michelle Williams and Natalie Louise Williams of Woodland, CA, Dana Ashley Buie Adams of Russellville, TN, and Geoffrey Kent Buie of Knoxville, TN.
Visitation will occur on April 8, 2019 from 6-8 PM at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. Apex, NC 27502. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3008 Old Raleigh Rd, Apex, NC 27502.
