Margarita Angelova Tutsova-Trauth

Margarita Angelova Tutsova-Trauth, 68 of Sherman, TX passed away on February 15, 2021 at her home.
Margarita was born on February 24, 1952 in Bulgaria to the late, Angel Tutsov and Yadka Tutsova. From a young age, Margarita led a very competitive life, in both athletics and academics. Margarita had a 15-year professional basketball career playing both club (WBC Minyor Pernik) and international basketball with the Bulgarian National Women’s Basketball Team. As a basketball player, Margarita was twice chosen to the Women’s European All-Star Team, won numerous Bulgarian Championships and Bulgarian Cups, and was honored as serving as Team Captain.
After an accomplished career in basketball, she turned her sights to academics—earning a PhD in Biological Sciences (Microbiology) from Sofia University (Sofia, Bulgaria) in 1989. As a professional she enjoyed a long career as a Biological Inspector for the Bulgarian Ministry of the Environment and served on the Board of Directors of Vidachim (Vidin, Bulgaria).
Later in life she immigrated to the United States of America, where she met and married Wayne Trauth. In retirement, Margarita enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, knitting, being active (swimming, golf, and riding her bicycle), and watching any and all competitive sporting events on TV and in person.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Wayne Trauth of Sherman, Texas; daughter, Anna Vladimirova of Apex, NC; son, Iliya Vladimirov of Sofia, Bulgaria; sister, Anastasia Tutsova of Pernik, Bulgaria; nieces, Yana Nikolova and Vesislava Tabakova both of Sofia, Bulgaria; and grandchildren, Alexsander Vladimirov, Borislav Vladimirov, Emiliya Hobbs, Lilyana Hobbs, and Oliver Hobbs.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Apex Funeral Home with burial to follow at Wake Memorial Park. The service will be available to view via livestream on Apex Funeral Home’s business page on Facebook.
