Marianne Janice Mulvey

Marianne Janice Mulvey passed away on Sunday October 6, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Raleigh, NC. She was born September 30, 1940 in Berkeley, California daughter of Melvin and Christine (Marino) Smith. The granddaughter of Edward and Ethel Smith Oakland, CA and Frank and Josephine (Zammarelli) Marino of Rocco Cilento, Italy and Oakland, CA.

A Rosary will be held on Sunday October 13, 2013 at 7:30 PM at the Chapel of St. Mary Magdeline Catholic Church 625 Magdala Place Apex, NC. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church on Monday October 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The family will hold a Memorial Service at the chapel St Mary’s Cemetery 4529 Howe Street in Oakland, CA. at a later date.

Marianne attended St Joseph’s Catholic elementary school and Presentation High School in Berkeley, CA. She attended Barnes Business College in Oakland. She worked as a secretary for the FBI and the District Attorney’s Office in Oakland, CA. She also was a small business owner and worked in private industry.

Marianne loved to travel and enjoyed gardening; and she also enjoyed working in the homebound ministry and was involved in her community where she participated in nursing home visits and community service activities. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; and was a member of the ESA sorority.

Marianne and her husband Joseph married on June 25, 1960 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Berkeley Calif and were married for 53 years. They have 4 children Timothy (Cherie) of Denver, Colorado, Teresa(Donald) Simmons of Vallejo, California; Sean (Sarah) of Niceville, Florida and Colleen (Nelson)Wixson of Cary, North Carolina. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren Monica, Timothy, Sean, and Shane Mulvey; Christine(Josh) Tidrow, Andrea (Simmons), Maria (Forbes/Simmons), and Kayla, Shea, and Mitchell Wixson; she is also survived by her 2 great grandchildren Peyton and Haiden Tidrow.
