Mary Therese Schaumburg-Bofinger

Mary Therese Bofinger, age 79, of Cary, North Carolina passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026. Born on December 14, 1946, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin; she was the daughter of the late Robert and Florence Knauf.

Mary’s career included over 20 years of dedicated public service to the federal government. She served proudly in both the State and Treasury Departments both overseas and in Washington, DC.

She is lovingly remembered by her brothers William Knauf (Karen) and John Knauf (Shawna); stepdaughters Karen Eiteman and Debra Butler (Mark); and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. Bofinger.

A Private Family Service will be held at Wake Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to the American Lung Association.
