Mike was born February 7, 1972 in Albuquerque, NM to David Wade Brookreson and Sharon Jane Green. He was a graduate of Hot Springs High School (1990). Mike was one of less than a thousand individuals worldwide (at the time of completion) to receive the prestigious title of Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CCE). In addition, Mike was named Police Officer of the Year by the Las Cruces Police Department in 2005 and 2007.
Mike was a Private First Class in the US Army from 1992-1996. He completed the United States Army Intelligence School in 1994, and his primary specialty became Intelligence Analyst. He retired from the LCPD after 17 years of service (1996-2013). After retirement, Mike relocated to Raleigh, NC to continue his service in law enforcement at the City County Bureau of Identification as a Computer Forensics Examiner (2013-2021); it is here that he also became a sworn Wake County Deputy.
Outside of work, Mike enjoyed fishing at Topsail Pier, shooting, gardening, home improvement projects, and being the neighborhood handyman/mechanic. He found immense joy in helping other people and made that the center focus of his life. Above all, he was an incredible father and husband.
Michael is survived by his wife, Candace Dempsey Brookreson; daughters, Blaire Ashley Brookreson and Jade Michael Brookreson; sister, Michelle Therese Green; and mother, Sharon Jane Green.
