Monnie was a hard worker all her life. She worked alongside her husband on the farm during their 60 plus years of marriage. They raised 3 children, cows, tobacco and many other crops. She had a great love for her family, farm and faith. Those things carried her through life.
Monnie was a faithful member of Olive Chapel Baptist Church fellowshipping with her Sunday School class as well as caring for little ones in the nursery.
She enjoyed many years at the NC State fair as one of the biscuit ladies making thousands of biscuits with her best friend Ms. Francis, for the Apex Lions Club.
Monnie proudly served on the Wake County Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee. She shared her passion for farming, agriculture and service alongside these ladies for many years.
Monnie was the bedrock of the Jenks family and will be greatly missed. We have all learned hard work and a strong work ethic from her as well as an example of how to love your family and the Lord.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Pa” Jenks Sr.; sister, Mary Ann Roberson; brothers, Lester O’Quinn and Mack O’Quinn.
Lovingly known as Granny Monnie, she will be dearly missed by many including her children, Richard (Dubie) Jenks Jr (Robin), Sonya J. Fowler (Gary) and Penny Vannoy (John); brother, Tony O’Quinn (Judy); sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Garrett; grandchildren, Natalie Hunter (Alex Braxton), Casey Goodwin (Michael), Laurel Jenks (Sean Kennedy), Andy Jenks (Meghan Hill), Wes Hunter (Izzie Avila), Amanda Pacinelli, and Jenna Brouillette (Dillon); and great grandchildren, Kennedy Marquardt, Rebecca Brouillette, Clayton Jenks, Cason Jenks, Cole Hill and Cheyenne Hill.
