Olive "Max" Horton

Olive “Max” Horton, 81, of New Hill went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 22, 2012. Mr. Horton was born on February 11, 1931 in Wake Co, NC to Nomie Gaston Horton and Ernie Utley Horton. Mr. Horton was a graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (#1 Tarheel Fan). Mr. Horton was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was retired from Surry Industries/Armtex in Pilot Mountain, NC. Mr. Horton was a member of New Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Myrtle Horton; sons: David Horton and wife, Robin of Pilot Mountain, and Brian Horton and wife, Connie of Brown Summit; daughters: Laurel Cunningham and husband, Danny of Fayetteville, and Linda Jones and husband, Billy of Germanton, NC; grandchildren: Coatney Cunningham, Kristin Maynard and husband, Seth, Joshua Horton and wife, Alexis, Brooke Jones, Kelley Jones, Caleb Horton, Julia Horton, Olivia Horton, Corey Horton; great grandchildren: Brooklyn Horton and Jaxon Maynard. He is also survived by a brother, Vernon Horton of Jacksonville, FL., and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 25, 2012 at New Hill Baptist Church, 3700 Old US 1 Hwy, New Hill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.
