Owen Reed Schroeder, 4, of Holly Springs, NC passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh.

Owen was born June 6, 2016 in Beverly, Massachusetts to Joshua and Laura Schroeder.

Owen is preceded in death by Great Grammy June Rollins, Great Uncle Harold Plourde.

Owen is survived by his loving parents, Joshua and Laura; Grandparents Ron, Doris, Alan, Laurie. Uncles Kelly, Alec, Alan, Ryan, Joshua H.. Aunts Mandy, Jenny, Kelly, Jennifer, Michelle, Melissa. Cousins Tatiana, Deagan, Gavin, Isabella, Linkan, Evelyn, Alec, Mick, Elsa, Ivan, Evelyn, Oliver.

Owen moved to Holly Springs with his parents in July of 2020 where he attended Pre-school at Thales Academy in Holly Springs. He was a bright, funny, thoughtful, sweet, loving, optimistic, inquisitive little boy. Since birth, he loved his dog, Rambo and they were best buds. Before moving to NC Owen would often request to video chat with his Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles and Cousins. During this past summer, Owen lived life to the fullest by riding his scooter, playing soccer, spending time with his cousins and friends, cannonballs in the pool, doing “boy stuff” with Dad (like watching football, of course), and playing “Candy Land” as a family. His creative side would come through by making up songs about how much he loved his Mom. Owen had a growing interest in superhero comics and toys. He had an great collection of stuffed animals and he would add to his “gem” (rock) collection daily. During down time, Owen enjoyed getting cozzzyyyy and watching his show and he would never let Mom and Dad leave his bedroom for the night without reading three books each. He also enjoyed planning out and “pranking” his parents! Owen really shined when he would get ready for school, making sure that he looked handsome before going out the door, and when he was back home for the day he would try to negotiate for sweets. He sure loved his sweets. His loving presence in our lives has been a tremendous gift to us all. We will carry his memory and spirit in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Owen’s honor to Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department via his Go Fund Me page.

Owen has such a precious smile. All I kept hearing was my friend Greg and Marnai telling me how intuitive Owen was. He was only 4, but he was a deep soul who sometimes came up with a really good question that made the grownups think about life. We will miss this precious child.

Owen loved to come over and pet our dog, and visit with our new kitten. He was such a positive and friendly young boy that my wife and I would always say to each other after seeing him, “have you ever seen a happier child?”

You brightened our life Owen!

With love,

The Wright Family
